Despite a lack of long-term food safety or environmental studies on the introduction of genetically engineered (GE) fish, the Food and Drug Administration is currently in the process of reviewing the "AquAdvantage" salmon--the first GE animal intended for human consumption--a GE atlantic salmon produced by Aquabounty Technologies.
