The term "pesticide" refers to a class of chemicals intended for "preventing, destroying, repelling, or mitigating" any potential harm to crops. These harms include insects, rodents, weeds, fungus, and more. However, these chemicals do not just harm the "pests" they are intended to control. Pesticides cause a wide range of harmful impacts on living creatures that are not the intended targets, as well as on the greater ecosystem.
