New "Hero's Journey" Podcast Aims to Inspire Hope and Activism

Sept. 29 Launch Profiles Youth Climate Activists from Groundbreaking Juliana v. US Case

SAN FRANCISCO—Is change possible? Can we make a difference? A new Center for Food Safety podcast launching Sept. 29 features inspiring stories of change-making activists who have answered YES. "The Hero's Journey" podcast provides a dynamic and engaging response to today's cynicism with stories of hope. 

Featuring world-renowned hero Vandana Shiva, nature-based meditation teacher Mark Coleman, authors Marion Nestle and Anna Lappé, and others, "The Hero's Journey" explores these activists' origins, trials, tribulations, fears, mentors, and more. 

"Activists overcome the barrier of powerlessness and passivity," says Vandana Shiva, the famed scholar and activist who has authored more than 20 books. "To live a life of fulfillment, meaning, and freedom, to protect our Living Earth and our humanity, everyone needs to be an activist." 

Podcast host Ashley Lukens says, "What the world needs now is inspiration and hope. The heroes on this podcast offer just that." Author Mark Colemanan upcoming featured guest, adds, "It's essential in these challenging ecological times that we all find ways to engage and act that help bring a more just and environmentally sustainable future. Activism is a crucial part of that."

The podcast launch, broadcast live via Zoom on Thursday, September 29, at 5:00 pm PT / 8 pm ET, features young climate activists from the groundbreaking Juliana v. United States case. What happens when 21 Gen Z leaders step up to demand the US government take action on climate? How has Juliana v. United States transformed the climate conversation in the US? The launch event will answer these questions and more.
