Children and other sensitive populations have no choice but to live and work in close proximity to areas where restricted use pesticides are being sprayed. Of greatest concern are restricted use pesticides, many of which scientists have definitively linked to developmental delays in children as well as long-term health effects, including cancer and other serious diseases, decreased cognitive function, and behavioral problems.
This fact sheet explains the impact of pesticides on children's health, the incidents of pesticide exposure, the lack of regulation from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and why Hawai’i needs to support protections against pesticides.
