The Center for Food Safety (CFS) is a nonprofit public interest and environmental advocacy organization working to address the impacts of our industrial food production system on human health, animal welfare and the environment. CFS works to achieve its goals through litigation, grassroots campaigns, public education, and media outreach.
CFS is seeking highly motivated interns to work in a fast-paced environment on cutting-edge genetic engineering and other food safety issues. Interns perform research, data entry, and help with membership correspondence and public outreach efforts. They also provide general administrative support to the office. Additionally, interns may attend hearings, agency meetings, and press conferences. This is a great opportunity for those interested in helping to ensure the safety of our food and the protection of our environment through grassroots advocacy.
These are full-time positions, and require a three-month commitment. (Interns who wish to stay longer than three months are encouraged to do so.) New interns are hired whenever an intern leaves; this means that there are no regular summer internships. These internships are primarily designed for college graduates, and are an excellent way to break into the nonprofit environmental field.
Salary: College Credit or $10.00 an hour (40+ hours a week)
